High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) can be found in nearly everything nowadays, while a half century ago ago most foods were sweetened with real cane sugar.Ai?? According to Dr. Hyman, “When used in moderation it (corn syrup) is a major cause of heart disease, obesity, cancer, dementia, liver failure, tooth decay and more.”

Another quote of interest comes from David S. Ludwig, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School, when he said, ai???High fructose corn syrup is one of the most misunderstood products in the food industry.ai???

A ubiquitous sweetening ingredient known in the US as high fructose corn syrup could get a branding makeover under a plan by food companies to make it sound more appetizing … Alarmed about a growing stigma surrounding the substance, the US Corn Refiners Association (CRA) is attempting a rebranding. All in all, excess consumption of any type of sugar can lead to various health problems, but we strongly advise that, at the very least, people avoid HFCS.
