“If you can’t respect our national anthem, get the hell out of the country. That’s the way I feel. Of course, I’m old-fashioned. So, I’m only going to say what I feel. I think there’s a way you protest, and there’s a way you don’t protest. You don’t protest against the flag, and you don’t protest against this country who’s given you the opportunities to make a living playing a sport that you never thought would happen. So I don’t want to hear all the crap.”
Quick Brain Type quiz. Of the 16 inborn designs, which would be most apt to make this statement in such a fashion? If the #6 BEIR was in your top three or four, congratulations. They were the words of former NFL coach Mike Ditka. His opinion comes with some risk, however, as Ditka is set to take over as owner and chairman of the X League, a woman’s tackle football organization (not surprising for a #6 to be in charge of that!). He went on to say that if he has his way, no women will demonstrate during the X League games. He doesn’t have that power, however, but went on to say, “These women are pretty and good-looking and want to knock the crap out of each other. We’ll see how it works!”
During the Colin Caepernick (#13 FCIR) saga a few years back, Ditka was as equally vocal. “I have no respect for Colin Kaepernick — he probably has no respect for me, that’s his choice. My choice is, I like this country, I respect our flag, and I don’t see all the atrocities going on in this country that people say are going on.”
A true Norman Schwarzkopf (#6) of football, Mike plays it straight in his own way, in his own time, as he sees fit.
