His sudden death is again stoking the vaccine debate fire, as last week saw boxing legend Marvin Hagler sadly pass away after struggling with “after effects of the vaccine.” Hagler was one of the best middleweight fighters of all-time, and his wife made the sad announcement on social media. “I am sorry to make a very sad announcement. Today unfortunately my beloved husband Marvelous Marvin passed away unexpectedly at his home here in New Hampshire. Our family requests that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.”
Hagler was just 66 years old, and was the undisputed middleweight champion from 1980 to 1987 and recorded 52 knockouts during his career. A intensely driven #6 BEIR who was big on respect, Hagler used that motivation to win matches. He once said, “It was what I perceived as a lack of respect from the boxing world as well as the media, which made me want to work so hard and be great.” Hagler was formidable, defending his title 12 times before losing to Sugar Ray Leonard (#5 FEIR) in 1987 in a split decision. Because Leonard wouldn’t do a rematch, Hagler quit. “Sugar Ray wouldn’t give me a rematch, and that’s the reason I walked away from boxing.”
That’s what we call a competitive #6!
