We saw the passing of #15 FCIL political powerhouse Diane Feinstein a few months ago, and being California, of course, everyone assumes that another Democrat will take her place.  That is likely to happen, and everyone trying to fill her spot is acting “as if they believe an all-Democrat November runoff is inevitable.”  Yet, as one reporter for the Orange County Register recently commented, “That may not happen.”

In fact, polls are showing that Republican Steve Garvey is now running second in the four-way primary race.  “Steve Garvey,” you ask?  “The same Steve Garvey who was an all-star first baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers and later the San Diego Padres?”  Yes, that same Steve Garvey.

And yes, every true blue BT enthusiast will next recognize that Mr. Garvey has the same Brain Type as the late Feinstein.  Go figure he would get into politics, running a somewhat middle-of-the-road campaign that could entice undecided voters in a state that is fast going the way of the Dodo bird (yes, we’re speaking of California).  Garvey is indeed a quinteicential #15, once stating, “You must be passionate, you must dedicate yourself, and you must be relentless in the pursuit of your goals. If you do, you will be successful.”  And how’s this one sound?  “I really think there is a certain destiny in my life to lead people.”

Won’t find too many #2 BEARs or #10 BCARs saying that!

Garvey has about 15% of the vote compared to Adam Schiff’s 26%, but with an estimated 60% of the GOP vote, he could easily narrow that gap by drawing in more of his base.  We’ll just have to wait and see if the passionate Garvey can pull it off!
