Sunday saw the Oklahoma City Thunder take down the Indiana Pacers for what would have been a first-ever championship for either team. The first quarter sadly saw Tyrese Haliburton go down with a severe Achilles tear, which could have easily been a deciding factor in the Pacer’s eventual loss. Up until that point, Tyrese, a gifted #10 BCAR, had made three 3-pointers, and was leading his team in scoring. Haliburton said in a statement after the game, “Man. Don’t know how to explain it other than shock. Words cannot express the pain of this letdown. The frustration is unfathomable. I’ve worked my whole life to get to this moment and this is how it ends? Makes no sense.”
He again went on to say, “My foot feels like dead weight, fam. But what’s hurting most I think is my mind. Feel like I’m rambling, but I know this is something I’ll look back on when I’m through this, as something I’m proud I fought through. It feels good to let this sh*t out without y’all seeing the kid ugly cry.” To be sure, one can find a number of #10isms in Tyrese’s statement, not the least of which is “kid ugly cry”, but also, “Makes no sense.” The #10 BCAR continually strives to make sense of life, as Jon Niednagel writes in Brain Types and Parenting, “With the world in an ever-changing state of flux and turmoil, BCARs often wish they could return as did Peter Pan to Never Land.” And again, “The foremost question BCARs take though life is “Who am I?” Knowing his introspective, dominant Animate design, Haliburton wasn’t fibbing when he said, “But what’s hurting most I think is my mind.”
Meanwhile, #5 FEIR Myles Turner took the loss hard, saying he will miss “the process” of what it took to get to the NBA Finals. “The moment,” he said. “Just everything we’ve been through just to get to this point.” (leave it to the dominant Empiracle to focus on every moment!) The Indiana Pacers have another #5 FEIR in the person of Andrew Nembhard, who was praised for his defensive efforts against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. After the game he posted, “It’s so incredible that I came to [this team]…I really do love these guys.”
