The name Hulk Hogan has long been synonymous with wrestling. From the mid-80s to the late 90s, he was the very image of WWE. Last week saw the passing of “The Hulk”, a death that surprised many who knew him and who thought he was still going strong at age 71. Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bolea, died of cardiac arrest on Sunday.
People following Brain Typing for the past few decades already know full-well Hogan’s inborn Brain Type. A flashy, ego-driven entertainer, Hulk was a #5 FEIR. “I love to give the fans what they want,” he once said. “They’re what I miss most when I’m not wrestling. That time in the ring is like being in heaven for me.” To be sure, nothing thrills the #5 more than to showcase their skills in front of others. They live for the moment, and they live for the acclaim of others. Despite this drive, they still often remain more or less down-to-earth. Hogan again once said, “I’ve always felt from everyone I talk to that the fans feel like I’m tangible and they can talk to me and they know me.”
As already intimated, #5s are BIG on appearance. Sure, not all FEIRs may wear the yellow speedos or sport the gold necklaces, but they want you to notice them. “I’m real critical of myself,” the Hulkster again said. “And if I take the bandana off my head I’m completely bald headed and go from being 58 to looking 68 instantly.”
Towards the end of his life, Terry Bolea sobered up quite a bit, finding deeper meaning as a Christian, and saying that surrendering his life to Jesus was “the greatest day” of his life. “The only thing that’s real is the stuff that’s gonna last forever … trusting Christ as your Savior, you’re going to not perish but have everlasting life. That belief and that faith is pretty much the only thing that’s real to me.”
Pretty strong words from the ultimate “realist” FEIR.
