The World Cup is well underway and in a future article we’ll give a few Types of some lesser known players. For now, Lionel Messi (#6 BEIR) had an amazing hat trick a couple weeks ago against Algeria to tie for the most goals in World Cup history. Then, just a few days ago, he added another 2 goals against Austria to become the all-time leading World Cup scorer ever. Wow!
Meanwhile, after a disappointing tie with Congo last week, Cristiano Rinaldo (#9 BCAR) and Portugal were back last week to beat Uzbekistan, with Ronaldo adding two more goals himself to become the highest scoring player in Portugal. Of course, with the World Cup being in the United States this year, greater attention has been given to this oft-overlooked sport, and it hasn’t disappointed thus far!
What makes this 2026 World Cup so special is the fact that it will likely be the last appearance there for both Rinaldo and Messi, arguably the two best players to have ever played the game. And from a Brain Type’s perspective, it is even more special. Personality-wise, Lionel and Cristiano couldn’t be more different. Messi is gritty, rough, and a strategic playmaker, who is known to “dictate the tempo of the game,” while Ronaldo is smooth, athletic, and known for being a sly “fox in the box”. The two men are nearly opposite inborn designs, yet the best at what they do and exactly HOW they do it. Of course, both are Right brain dominant, which is nearly a MUST when it comes to being the BEST at any sport. Yet, particularly when it comes to their social, relational natures, it’s night and day.
Ronaldo, being Front brain dominant (and a #9 at that), is quite charismatic, and at ease in front of cameras, speaking fluent English with a natural smile. Messi, in contrast, is a Back brainer (and a unique #6 at that), who is widely-known for being shy and to himself. One of his biggest regrets is having never learned English as a boy, saying he just never applied himself (though he can understand much of it). In his younger days in Barcelona, in fact, teammates thought Messi was “mute”, and he’s known to avoid the spotlight, with only a tight circle of friends.
