In a bit of very sad news, Fox News Channel’s Alan Colmes (#13 FCIR) passed away this morning after a “brief illness”, leaving behind his wife, Jocelyn Crowley. His family issued the statement:

“Alan Colmes passed away this morning after a brief illness. He was 66-years-old. He leaves his adoring and devoted wife, Jocelyn Elise Crowley. He was a great guy, brilliant, hysterical, and moral. He was fiercely loyal, and the only thing he loved more than his work was his life with Jocelyn. He will be missed. The family has asked for privacy during this very difficult time.”

Sean Hannity (#15 FCIL), best known as Colmes’ conservative counterpart in the former FoxNews show “Hannity and Colmes,” worked with Alan for years and said in a statement that he was “one of life’s most decent, kind and wonderful people you’d ever want to meet.” Those who watched Colmes over the years would likely agree, as he consistently kept his cool on national television even when Sean himself let his resolute, dominant Inanimate “black or white” Left brain get the best of him. Hannity concluded his statement, saying, “I’m truly heartbroken at the loss of a dear friend.”

No surprise to Brain Typists, Alan Colmes actually started his career as a stand-up comedian before changing direction to radio, and eventually television. Though a staunch liberal, Alan was a friend to many on the opposite side of the political spectrum. His behavior and nature in life certainly seemed to reflect the Proverb “… even his enemies are at peace with him.”
