The #16 BCIL typically doesn’t mind stepping on toes, particularly on issues about which they are principled. They possess critical minds that question everything, logically pursuing every avenue of doubt. Attempt to “pull the wool over their eyes,” and you will likely fail!

While there have been critics of the NFL’s Colin Kaepernick (#13 FCIRand his new practice of sitting/kneeling during the national anthem, none have perhaps come out to criticize him so poignantly as baseball’s Tony LaRusa (#16). To say the least, Tony is skeptical of Colin, stating a few weeks ago, “I really question the sincerity of somebody like Kaepernick. I remember when he was on top. I never heard him talk about anything but himself. Now all of a sudden he’s struggling for attention and he makes this big pitch. I don’t buy it. And even if he was sincere, there are other ways to show your concern. Disrespecting our flag is not the way to do it.”

Ouch! La Russa straight-out beats the bush with a baseball bat and brings into question Colin’s motives! To be fair, he did add the “Even if he was sincere” statement, but Tony went further than most anyone else in the news. To be sure, La Russa was being his “Honest Abe” self (who also shared Tony’s BT), and went on to say like a true statesman, “I know that there’s a constitutional right to express yourself, but I think you have a right as an organization to have a certain philosophy about respecting, whether it’s our Constitution, whether it’s our country, whether its our soldiers…our flag. I would not, to the best of my ability, I would not sanction somebody taking a knee.”

Could we see Tony running for office in the future? From a Brain Type’s perspective, he could be another Ralph Nader, Jimmy Carter, or Harry Reid. Our guess, however, is that he will be sticking with his tried-and-true game of baseball, though we will never say never!
